About Freelancer
Calum is a Professional Engineer with over 17 years’ experience in Underground Mining ranging from greenfield studies, through to construction and onto operations. He has roughly spent half of his career so far in consulting and the other half in operations. Primarily, Calum has working experience in long-hole stoping operations as well as in sublevel and block caving. However, through his study work, Calum has a wide in-depth working knowledge of a variety of mining methods extending from underground narrow-vein hard rock to cut-and-fill, to open pit, and more. Calum has also recently taken on more Project Engineering roles at developing mines, working alongside mine construction and managing contractors and vendors.

For Calum, leadership and responsible decision-making are natural traits and he enjoys mentorship, ensuring a client is well set up to continue the work post-project. Calum directs projects in a manner that achieves buy-in from stakeholders and fosters an environment that promotes learning, safety, and accountability.
