In the capacity of Operations Manager at East Tennessee, I am directly accountable to the General Manager for developing the operational business unit strategy for the three underground operations. My primary responsibility encompasses managing all underground activities at each of the mining operations, with 8 direct reports and 200 indirect reports that achieve both short and long-term operational objectives across all areas of operations. My focus is on implementing the Management Operating System, which has resulted in a 40% increase in operational performance over a 6-month period.
As the Operations Manager of the Myra Falls Underground Operation, I reported directly to the General Manager and successfully led a comprehensive organizational turnaround. I achieved this by developing and implementing a highly effective management operating system, strategically restructuring the entire organization, and fostering a safety culture. As a result, we saw a remarkable reduction in safety incidents and a significant increase in operating efficiencies by 60%. Our run of mine tonnes increased from a historical performance of around 400ktpa to 650ktpa. Under my leadership, we created a faster-paced and highly pressurized working environment. This enabled us to eliminate prominent silos, improve communication, and foster a culture of optimal performance. This resulted in increased accountability and a team of high-performers who were fully committed to achieving our goals.
As the Mine Manager for the Hemlo Mine underground operations I was accountable for the safe delivery of 3mtpa/230koz Operation with six direct reports and 375 indirect reports.
As the Production Superintendent I was accountable for providing on-site coordination for all phases of all underground production activities and projects, including coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring that specifications were being strictly followed, and work was proceeding on schedule and within budget.
