About Freelancer
Competent Civil/Geotechnical Engineer offering services in tunnel design and
contract management. Highly effective at working with teams of tunnel designers
and builders to accomplish projects on-time and according to cost constraints.
Detail-oriented with strong knowledge of Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology,
Structural Geology, Tunnel Design, In-situ stress measurement methods and 3D Finite
Element Analysis.
Presence
Education
Key responsibilities included; • Gathered geological and geotechnical data and organized information for research purposes. • Performed research on the evolution of ground stresses and their interaction with the underground structures. • Three-dimensional Finite Element Modelling approach was used to simulate the effect of Paleotopography, current topography and tectonic stresses on the present-day in-situ stress. • The research contributed towards an improved understanding of the bedrock stresses in tectonically active regions and highlighted the challenges for underground construction.
Work & Experience
• Teaching courses like Rock Mechanics, Tunnel Engineering and Structural Geology. • Collaborate with the Mining and Tunneling industries to help them solve field related problems. • Supervise Rock Mechanics laboratory testing campaigns. • Established research agenda in Rock Mechanics/Structural Geology/Geotechnial fields to publish in peer-reviewed journals. • Supervise graduate and postgraduate student's research projects.
• Contract management during the execution stage of the tunneling project. • Review and respond to the contractor’s Non-Conformance • Report, Request for Information and Field Change Reports. • Review and evaluate contractor’s claims for geological overbreak as per approved criteria. • Making plans to optimize the tunnel support system. • Resolved the blast-induced overbreak problem by interpreting the rock mass and stress conditions and using suitable blasting pattern. • Review and interpret tunnel convergence monitoring reports and advise action if it exceeds the allowable tolerance. • Ensure the daily activity reports are collected, reviewed and submitted on time. • Implementation of ES&H plan. • Providing guidance and technical advice to the field engineers, contractors and lead the review meetings.
